I cut the ribbon to open a new micro library at the Netherton Green Nursing Home.
I was joined by Netherton Councillor Damian Corfield for the opening of the new facility.
The nursing home has converted its covid pod – a place where residents could safely meet loved ones during the pandemic – into somewhere for residents to read and have a quiet time.
Me and Damian then met with some residents and staff and had a brief tour of the home in Bowling Green Road.
This included nursing home manager Jack Hendy, team manager Ella Clifford and activities coordinator Karen Winmill. Residents they chatted with included Graham Lane, Graham Breese and Florence Horton.
It was an honour to go to Netherton Green with Damian and cut the ribbon on the new library.
It is an innovative repurposing of the pod by the home and a great place to settle down and get absorbed in a good book.
Thank you to the staff for all the important work that they do and it was good to meet them and residents. I was also able to convey some first-hand experience as my father was recently in respite care.
