My priority for Stourbridge is jobs, investment, and upskilling.

Private sector innovation is the key to a strong economy and delivering prosperity for working people. Local businesses are important engines that drive economic growth and employ hundreds of local people. That is why it is important that the Government does it all can to foster a climate where businesses can thrive as we recover from the global pandemic.

I will always champion local businesses and investment in Stourbridge and work to ensure that local people have the skills they need to get well-paid jobs.

Government Support for Businesses during COVID-19

Time and again, I and other Members on the Conservative Benches have risen to oppose motions such as this from an Opposition who believe £407 billion in support throughout the pandemic has not been enough.

Women in STEM Jobs

I asked the Minister at Women and Equalities Questions what steps he is taking to increase the number of women and girls (a) studying and (b) employed in STEM subjects and jobs.

Visit to Stourbridge Job Centre

I visited the local Job Centre and met up with the team and work coaches. They do a brilliant job.

Their dedication has seen a 28% drop in the adult claimant rate and 40% drop in the young adult rate since march 2021.
