Local Elections May 1st

Ballot Box

I have seen many comments asking why there are no local elections on May 1st 🗳 across Dudley Borough.

The answer is this⬇️

The local elections were ALWAYS going to be in 2026 for Dudley Borough. This is because it is known as a " Fallow " year here, as we vote in thirds.

Other councils opted out under Angela Raynor's plans to reorganise ( you can read between the lines, damage limitation at the local elections for Labour!).

But Dudley didn't, as sadly (as I know many of you want to let Labour see how you feel), the local elections were always going to be in 2026 for Dudley.

This is frustrating, especially as Wollaston and Stourbridge Town are effectively down to one councillor, with two of the councillors, one being the Labour MP and the other working in the MP's office; you have limited representation.

But since the elections were not scheduled to take place until 2026, it is what it is, sadly, and I share your feelings of frustration 😤

You can have your say in 2026 and tell Labour what you think!

I hope this helps!
