Andy and residents

A huge thank you to our former mayor, Andy Street, for visiting Stourbridge yesterday, and to former Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.

Andy may not be our mayor, but he is still as passionate about the area as I am.

The impact on Stourbridge has been devastating, and I’m incredibly grateful to both of them for taking the time to come and speak with residents.

Whilst the Prime Minister did not speak directly with residents when he was here, I was pleased he came to Stourbridge so he could see the scale of the devastation first-hand.

When Andy, James and I spoke with local residents who were at the scene of the fires, they kept telling us the same thing: the scenes were apocalyptic.

The scale of what happened should not be underestimated. Nor the impact on residents.

But what has shone through is what a bloody brilliant community we have 🫶🫶, and we really do have some heroes who do not wear capes.
