Stourbridge MP Suzanne Webb is urging residents to sign up as volunteers for next year’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The games will begin in less than a year and there are over 314 different volunteer roles ranging from accreditation, driving and hospitality to media operations, courtside assistants and IT.
Training will be given and uniforms issued for those who are successful. There are also job vacancies for the games with roles now on offer in human resources and hospitality among others.
“The countdown has now begun to this exciting event right on Stourbridge’s doorstep and if anyone has the time and wants to get involved, please can they sign up now,” said Suzanne.
“It is not often such a big event takes place in the West Midlands and this is an opportunity for the famous warmth and friendliness of Brummies and Black Country folk to be employed to help and assist all the athletes from the Commonwealth who will be coming to our great region.
”The games are taking place from 28th July to 8th August and are using venues in Birmingham, the Black Country, Coventry and Warwickshire. Anyone interested in volunteering should go to this link: Volunteers at Birmingham 2022
